Recap: Microsoft Envision, April 4-6, 2016, New Orleans

KPMG Crimsonwing was happy to attend Microsoft’s new business event ‘Envision’, April 4th-6th in New Orleans. Envision is a new format replacing Microsoft Convergence, bringing together the most forward-thinking minds in business and technology. This year, KPMG was present as a Gold Sponsor with an impressive total of 4 sessions, owned side events, global executive meetings, product and solution demonstrations at the stand, and a spectacular evening event.

Some thoughts from KPMG Crimsonwing CEO David Walsh on Satya Nadella’s (Microsoft CEO) keynote speech:

“Satya described Microsoft’s mission as being ‘to empower every person and business to achieve more’. In order to achieve this, businesses should ask themselves two questions: 1) how is my business being challenged by digital transformation and 2) how is my business model being digitally transformed? According to Satya, digital transformation can be summed up as follows:

  1. Engaging with customers – We are on the cusp of major shifts: removing language barriers, providing more intelligence (personal digital assitants/Cortana) and digital robots
  2. Empowering employees –  Improving organisational effectiveness through the use of technology such as OneNote, Wonderlist, Power BI, Skype for Business, Pulse and Yammer
  3. Optimising operations – Internet of things, better service, continual improvement, and embedding BI and applications
  4. Products and services – Where is the gross margin, products or services

Satya closed off his keynote by committing Microsoft to make a positive difference to the world, and to provide a public cloud for the public good.”
