5 May 2017: Reinventing ERP on the cloud

A business can grow through a variety of strategies (market penetration, market expansion, product expansion, diversification, acquisitions etc) yet in general, businesses find it difficult to grow. Many researchers have attempted and are still attempting to find the reasons behind this and to provide companies with ways to achieve and sustain growth.

Some recommendations include:

  1. Improving the firm infrastructure to support successful execution of growth strategies – This requires elimination of departmental silos, utilising performance indicators and growing leaders at all levels within the company
  2. Considering growth opportunities within the company’s present market and customer base – A company should measure and benchmark profitability, calculate rate of revenue growth and evaluate its reputation with its most loyal customers

Data processing…

The above requires data processing which software applications such as Microsoft Power BI, Cortana Intelligence, Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics CRM can handle but growth is complex and requires companies to be very flexible. Therefore, needs for such software vary from one stage of growth to another and can become very expensive for companies to upgrade/downgrade based on changing requirements.

The solution…

Microsoft Dynamics 365 provides the answer to these challenges. Essentially, Dynamics 365 combines CRM and ERP capabilities into a variety of applications that work together seamlessly, such as sales, customer service, field service, operations, financials, marketing, and project service automation. In contrast, with separate ERP and CRM models of the past, organisations will now be able to enjoy the benefits of a seamless experience across all applications.

Moreover, these specialised intelligent applications are hosted on Microsoft Azure as services. This allows you to start with just what you need to run your business (such as Operations or Financials) and then add different apps as your needs evolve – creating greater opportunities for businesses to be more agile.
