Together with our partners Display VVA, KPMG Crimsonwing implemented an eCommerce store for a luxury Italian cosmetics and skin care company, which went live on Monday, 8th February 2010. The web shop is based on the well-established Intershop Enfinity platform. KPMG Crimsonwing took on this project last November and our team succeeded in meeting the tight deadline of six weeks for the development process.
The company was founded in the mid 1970’s in Milan and has since built a sterling reputation as a colour cosmetics and skin care company. The brand quickly established itself in Italy and is now expanding worldwide. Until now, its products were only available in specialist stores and rather difficult to obtain. With their new multi-lingual eCommerce store, the products have now a global reach and the ability to raise world-wide brand awareness. This has opened up a global market and given access to a much greater customer pool.
This easy-to-use web shop that KPMG Crimsonwing has created focuses more on the customer experience rather than on providing just an online selling tool. The store holds several product lines of luxury make-up and beauty products for the face, eyes, lips, hands and body, as well as professional products, accessories, brushes and limited edition lines.
In order to keep customer satisfaction levels high, it was important that the colour matching of the products was very precise, i.e. that the products are displayed the way they actually look when the customer receives them through the post. The eCommerce store provides very detailed product information pages allowing the user to see the product in fine detail, using high resolution images based on Adobe Scene7. Some of the hurdles that needed to be overcome were the tight deadlines – KPMG Crimsonwing and the client needed a fully working shop within just four weeks – and this was also the client’s first foray into eCommerce.
At KPMG Crimsonwing we have a specialist team in the eBusiness area that is highly-skilled regarding the requirements of the luxury goods retail sector, as this is our third such client within a short period of time. We have been implementing eCommerce solutions for more than 10 years now, which gives us a significant competitive advantage over most of our competitors. We have developed several eCommerce solutions for our customers. Display VVA (www.display.it), who is an Italian specialist in online marketing and design, was our partner on this project. The Intershop Enfinity solution was the ideal platform for the client to drive their online marketing services which presents a new channel to market for them and will greatly contribute to their business performance in the future. KPMG Crimsonwing’s Project Manager for this project commented: “Our previous experience with working on eCommerce shops for fashion brands has taught us that innovation, attention to detail and focus on the customer experience are what delivers dividends. In the constantly changing world of eCommerce this is no mean feat, but together with our partners Display VVA we have managed to achieve this through this site”.
