KPMG Crimsonwing, the leading IT Solutions provider in Malta, announced today the successful implementation of a custom Route Management Module on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP for the leading food and beverage importer and distributor on the Maltese islands
The client has opted for the implementation of the world-class Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP solution to facilitate their operation and achieve more efficient deliveries all over Malta and Gozo. With the Route Management system in place, a number of ERP modules are being implemented in a phased approach, including Accounts Payable and Receivables, Fixed Assets, Warehouse Management, and Human Resources.
The food importer and distributor needed a Route Management ERP system to assist them in the management of their distribution activities in the most efficient way possible. KPMG Crimsonwing’s qualified Microsoft Dynamics AX Engineers built several interfaces into the system including one with Google maps. The Route Management module generates a number of routes based on the sales orders due for delivery on that particular day. The Google Maps service is used to group these sales orders into the most efficient routes based on proximities of the localities. Vans and drivers are assigned to the routes depending on a number of criteria, such as types of products (frozen/ambient) and driving licence category. The picking lists for the sales orders, as well as the invoices, are all generated through the route management process. Delivery routes are automatically computed on a daily basis before the products get loaded on to the vehicle, which leads to time savings in the route planning process as well as increased accuracy.
