Microsoft Dynamics 365 is being touted as ‘the next generation of intelligent business applications’ – a big claim for what promises to be a game-changer.

Essentially, Microsoft Dynamics 365 combines CRM and ERP capabilities into a variety of applications that work together seamlessly, such as sales, customer service, field service, operations, financials, marketing, and project service automation.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 plans

The Unified Operations plan and the Customer Engagement plan fall under the Dynamics 365 umbrella each of them having different apps that work together seamlessly.

The Unified Operations plan, previously known as Dynamics 365 for Operations, includes Finance and Operations, Power Apps, Retail, and Talent. The last two apps can be licenced independently but the Finance and Operations app will only be available as part of the Unified Operations plan. The Customer Engagement plan includes Filed Service, Project Service Automation, Customer Service, Sales and Power Apps.

Customer can choose between 3 different plans, the Customer Engagement Plan, the Unified Operations Plan, and the Dynamics 365 plan. The latter combines the Customer Engagement plan and the Unified Operations plan together to create a powerful business solution that can significantly improve the way business is done.

Further to this, these plans are packaged into two different editions, the Business edition and the Enterprise edition. The former is optimised for Small and Medium sized businesses whilst the latter is optimised for Large businesses.

HR module

In this video Liam John, Consultant at KPMG Crimsonwing UK, will take you through the HR module of Dynamics 365 for Financials and Operations. As of last year, Microsoft introduced Dynamics 365 and ever since we have been witnessing a lot of gradual changes in the product line-up and the specific apps. This video will shed some light on how the HR module has changed from AX 2012.

With regards to the product line-up, please note that the app now is called Dynamics 365 for Financials and Operations (part of the Unified Operations Plan) rather than simply Dynamics 365 for Operations (as mentioned in the video).

Azure Logic Apps 

Nilesh Amin, Technical Architect at KPMG Crimsonwing, will take you through Azure Logic Apps which are simply defined as a graphical representation of the workflows. Logic Apps consist of four components:
